🧺 How to Care for Your Merino Wool Jersey

Stay fresh. Ride longer. Love your gear.

Merino wool is nature’s performance fabric. It’s breathable, temperature-regulating, and doesn’t hold odour — perfect for long rides, short hikes, and everyday adventures. But to make it last, you’ve got to treat it with love.

This guide will show you how to wash, dry, and store your Merino gear — so it keeps performing ride after ride.

1. Wear More, Wash Less

One of the best things about Merino? You can wear it multiple times before washing — it naturally resists odour and bacteria.
→ If it doesn’t smell, don’t wash it. Just air it out.

2. Machine Wash Gently

When it’s time to clean it, go gentle:

  • Use cold water (max 30°C)
  • Choose a wool or mild detergent (no enzymes or bleach)
  • Turn inside out
  • Wash with similar colours
  • Use a mesh bag if you have one

Avoid: Fabric softeners, bleach, and high-spin cycles. These weaken the fibres and shorten your jersey's life.

3. Skip the Dryer

Merino wool doesn’t like heat. Lay your jersey flat to dry — ideally on a towel. Avoid hanging (can stretch the shape) and don’t tumble dry.

4. Wrinkles? Don’t Stress.

Merino is naturally wrinkle-resistant. If you do need to smooth it out, use a cool iron, with a cloth between the iron and fabric.

5. Store it Smart

Before stashing it away for the season:

  • Wash it
  • Let it dry completely
  • Fold it (no hangers!)
  • Store in a breathable space — not plastic
